CASA Blue Island
Citizens in Action Serving All
The mission of CASA
is to recognize the diversity of Blue Island
and to improve the lives of its citizens through
education, advocacy, and services.
Since October of 2004, CASA has:
- held public meetings for citizens to discuss problems with policing
- advocated reform of police department with the public and City government
- organized voter registration drives
- sponsored Candidate Speak events during local elections
- promoted immigration reform
- sponsored neighborhood meetings to increase public participation in local government
- campaigned for fiscal responsibility in the city
- worked with the NAACP and the Voting Rights Project of the Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law to make Blue Island ward map compliant with the 14th Amendment and the Voting Rights Act
